1940's Austrian Petit Point Bag - Horseshoe Shape

This 1940's handbag has a ruched panel of floral embroidery on both sides.  This is Austrian petit point work and the flowers are lovely shades of purple and pink with yellow and green for the leaves.  This bag has a black cotton fabric body inside and out but the petit point panels appear to be worked on a crepe like material.  The bag is most unusual in shape, resembling a horse shoe.  There is a crochet cord handle and the edges all around this 1940s purse are finished in gold thread.  This vintage hand bag has a flap over lid which fastens with a secure press stud.  There is a little pocket within the bag that probably held a small mirror but is empty now.  The condition is excellent and the bag would be lovely to use to add a touch of vintage glamour to an evening outfit.  It is small enough to look neat and dainty yet large enough to carry all the items you might need for a night out.  Dimensions are 5.25 inches by 5.5  inches by 1.5 inches.
