Vintage Peacock ( or maybe even Peahen) Brooch
Here is a detailed bird brooch, I think it is a Peacock with its tail down or it may be a Peahen! The vintage brooch is made of faux marcasite and measures 2.25 inches by .75 of an inch. It fastens with an angled brass pin with an old fashioned 'c' type clasp. Finished in chrome, these pressed metal brooches were produced in England by the famous Charles Horner company and were one of their fancy lines of costume jewellery in the late 1940,s through the 1950s and into the 1960's. Originally cheap and cheerful they are now becoming increasingly hard to find and costume jewellery collectors love them. They are light in weight so are incredibly easy to wear on any fabric. This is just one of the many styles available. The Company also produced birds, other animals, ships, figurals, florals, crowns, people, butterflies and many other quirky designs.
