Vintage Iris Brooch by Exquisite - small size version (SOLD)

 This lovely flower brooch is a small version of the cold enamel Iris pin by Exquisite Jewellery Ltd., of Solihull, Warwickshire, England.  It was one of their range of Birthday Flower Brooches introduced and extremely popular during the 1960's but I believe this one to date from the 1970s.  These pins came in two sizes, this is the smaller sized version. A traditional English flower was chosen for every month of the year.  The Company also had a range of Leaf pins and matching earrings, as well as many other lines in quality costume jewellery. The Iris Brooch is the pin for April .  It has a strong yellow gold  finish and has the classic "bow" tied around the bunch of flowers which features on many of these designer pins. The Exquisite signature appears as a block on the reverse but it is hard to make it out.  Because these pieces were hand finished, you get marked variations in the colours.  This one has dark colours with strong green leaves and flowers of blue with just a hint of yellow and green. It is in excellent vintage condition but there is a piece missing in the middle of the gold bar to one side. You can see this in the photo and it must have happened during manufacture as it is properly finished.  I only noticed it when I was loading on the photo so it doesn't detract from the brooch in any way.  Approximate measurements are  5cms (2ins) by 4 cms (1.5 ins).  This item fastens with a rollover type clasp.
