Vintage Celluloid and Austrian Crystal Pearlised Button Clip-on Earrings
I think these are a really special pair of clip on earrings where the clever use of the early plastic celluloid gives a light-to-wear earring with so much glamour! These vintage earrings are in a button style. The earrings, which measure approx 1 inch in diameter, consist of two pearlised, domed discs of celluloid - one larger one and one smaller almost half inch in diameter. Both discs have been inlaid with jewels and metal pins. The jewels are facet-cut Austrian crystals and the pins are silver tone in colour. The earclip fasteners are an oxidised silver metal which do show their age but the fronts are lovely and look like new! The pearl colour of these vintage earrings varies from creamy white to a real ivory tone of cream depending on the light. The austrian crystal jewels sparkle with tones of pink, green, gold, and mauve.
