Vintage Brooch - Alsation or German Shepherd Dog (SOLD)

He could be standing in position for Crufts with his ears perked up, his leg posed backwards and his tail down but all lhe really wants to do is adorn your lapel!  Here is a great vintage faux marcasite Dog Brooch.   Finished in chrome, these pressed metal brooches were produced in England by the famous Charles Horner company and were one of their fancy lines of costume jewellery in the late 1940,s through the 1950s and into the 1960's. Originally cheap and cheerful they are now becoming increasingly hard to find and costume jewellery collectors love them. They are light in weight so are incredibly easy to wear on any fabric. This is just one of the many styles available. The Company also produced birds,  other animals, ships, figurals,  florals, crowns, people, butterflies and many other quirky designs.   The Vintage German Shepherd Dog Pin measures almost 2inches by 1.25 inches and fastens with an old fashioned 'c' type clasp.
