Vintage Bakelite Era Carved Faux Coral Necklace SOLD

It is always good to find such an interesting early plastic necklace as this. Made from Casein, a milk based plastic, it dates from the 1940s.  (It may be just in the late 1930's or just into the beginning of the 1950's if we are being completely accurate but it is in the category of vintage jewellery that is often termed 'Bakelite Era' that was extremely popular in the 40's.) This floral necklace has the appearance of real deep-carved coral.  There are five highly carved flowers which graduate in size a larger central carved flower which is 18mm in diameter, the next two are 15mm in diameter and the final two are 12mm in diameter. The faux coral flowers are attached to a silver tone chain and the whole necklace measures just 16 inches in length.  In excellent condition, this necklace finishes with a bolt ring clasp.  With a crisp cotton vintage frock or blouse this would be a really nice necklace for summer wear, it would also be ideal for a bridesmaid if coral tones were the chosen bridal colour scheme!
