Victorian Revival Silver and Marcasite Necklace from the 1930's (Sold)
This is a stunning necklace in the Romantic Victorian Revival style that was much favoured in the late 1930's. The theme is floral and the central pendant piece has an open daisy type flower within a scrolled setting. This silver and marcasite pendant is then suspended from another panel with half flower decoration. The next links are two open marcasite set swags to each side of the silver necklace. It is finished on a beautiful fancy chain with engraved flat oval and round links and fastens with a bolt ring type clasp which is simply marked 'Sterling'. It is likely that the necklace is American in origin or that it was produced for the American market. The whole vintage silver and marcasite necklace measures approximately 17.5 inches in length. The pendant drop is approx 1.5 inches by a little over half an inch with the decorative central panel (including the side swags) measuring 3 and a half inches long and just over half an inch down at the point where the pendant is suspended. This delightful vintage silver necklace is in excellent condition with all the facet cut natural marcasites in place and twinkling gently. This wold make a stunning necklace for a bride or a very smart addition to a collection of vintage and antique costume jewellery.
