Victorian Micro Mosaic Bar Brooch 1890 - 1900 (SOLD)

This is a very pretty small bar brooch which dates from the last decade of the 19th Century.  It is made up from tiny glass pieces, or tessarae, which form a little picture.  In this case it is a row of brown, white and green daisies with leaves, surrounded by a blue, white and black border.  This neat pin would have been hand worked  and the little glass tiles have been set into a gilt metal oval mount. This is a genuine Antique jewel and was probably made in Italy, although pieces of this kind were  also produced in England in the Victorian period.  It is 4cms in length and almost 1 cm across securing with an old fashioned 'c' type clasp.
