Vase of Flowers - Lovely 1940's - 1950's Lucite Brooch (SOLD)

Here is a delightful Lucite Brooch with the most realistic vase of flowers reverse-carved into it.  The vase is a round one with criss-cross design and it is overflowing with flowers.  On this vintage brooch we have  flowers in full and half bloom in mauve, cream, kingfisher blue and coral pink with green leaves. Even though this pin is more than 50 years old the colours are good and strong with minimal fading.  The brooch is round, slightly domed and chunky with a reflective rim which, like a mirror, reflects the colours of the bouquet and adds to its effect. The diameter of this vintage brooch is 1.75 inches and it is almost half an inch thick.  The florall lucite brooch fastens with a hooked over guarded clasp a bit like a tie pin.  It is in excellent condition.

This  vintage pin is a great collectable for anyone interested in Bakelite era and early plastics .  Lucite was Dupont's trade name for their acrylic plastic material which they patented in the 1930's and is usually the name given to brooches and pins of this type.  The most common theme for them is flowers, some abstract and Art Deco in design, others very detailed - so you can tell exactly which flower is being depicted!  Lucite brooches are see through so take on the colour of the item of clothing that they are pinned to.  They look fresh and pretty on white and light colours and striking and dramatic on black and dark colours - How will you wear yours?
