Traditional Thistle Brooch Pin in Enamel with Marcasite 1950s to 1960s Vintage(sold)
Thistle brooches are traditional jewellery for Scotland and are perfect to wear at occasions that honour her! This nice example is a thistle brooch with three purple flowers and green leaves in cold enamel. This silver coloured brooch also has the advantage of lots of real marcasite jewels set into it too. The Marcasite is a natural jewel, an iron pyrites, it adds a sparkle without too much bling! This brooch is typical of the flower and leaf pins popular in the 1950s and 1960s and it dates to that era. In excellent condition, the brooch is rhodium plated and measures approx 7 cms by 5 cms. Fastening with a guarded roll over type clasp this will easily secure on your plaid or tartan wrap for Hogmanay or Burn's Night. This vintage thistle pin would also work for a highland wedding pin for the bride or the groom.
