Strawberry Ice Brooch by Sarah Coventry 1960s - 1970s Strawberry Brooch
Sarah Coventry jewellery was named after 'Sarah' the granddaughter of Charles H. Stuart, the founder of the company and 'Coventry' the place the family originated from. It was established in the USA in 1949 and is recognized as the oldest direct selling jewelry company in the world. Most of their jewellery was produced in the USA but they also worked in Canada. The company introduced jewellery to the UK in 'Party Plan' sales a bit like the classic Tupperware approach. You can just imagine how exciting it would have been back in the 1960's to get dressed up and go along to see all the lovely costume jewellery and choose a treasure to buy and wear. As far as I can establish the Sarah Coventry Company continued to run the Party Plan jewellery sales until the 1970's.
