Sterling Silver Swallow or Swift Brooch Circa 1900 - 1910 (SOLD)
A romantic message is conveyed in this lovely antique silver pin. The Swallow or Swift when used in antique and vintage jewellery says 'I will return'. This sweet old brooch is very detailed and has a hammered or stamped design over the main body and wings of the bird. The forked tail, head and wing tips are plain polished silver. I would estimate that this collectable real silver brooch dates from the late Victorian or Edwardian period. It may not be English though as it is simply hallmarked with the word 'Sterling' so it may be a piece of American silver jewelry. This Swift or Swallow brooch measures 5cms across the wings and is a little over 1cm wide. It is in excellent condition with all the dark patina that is always associated with antique silver jewellery. It's pin fastens with an old fashioned 'c' type clasp.
