Sold. Art Deco 1920s to 1930s French Scarf Ring - Celluloid with jewels and painted decoration
This is a gorgeous and decorative scarf ring from France dating to the Art Deco era - 1920s to 1930s. It is made from the collectable early plastic celluloid in a peach tone. It benefits from decorative painted black lines and a red stylised rose detail to the centre. The cut-out design has been enhanced with white diamante jewels and silver inset pins. This type of early plastic jewellery is among the most desirable to collectors of Bakelite era pieces. It is quite special to find a scarf ring made in this way; usually it is hat flash brooches and cloche hat pins and armlets that are decorated like this. So the small, sweet scarf ring measures just 1.75 inches in length and fractionally over an inch in width. You use it like a toggle or woggle to simply slip over your scarf ends and retain them in a neat way. Perfect for silks, pashminas and other fine fabric scarves. The scarf ring is in excellent condition and the celluloid is particularly weighty and robust.
