SOLD LILLIE - Victorian Silver Name Pin - Hallmarked Chester 1898

This is a sweet example of an affordable English antique silver name pin with the name LILLIE.  The brooch has a fancy bar shape with applied block capital letters spelling out the name and some engraved borders and lines. This Victorian name brooch has the lion passant mark to show that it is English Sterling Silver and the Chester mark - three wheat sheaves with a sword and then the date letter 'P' showing it was assayed there in 1898. The lovely brooch is approximately 1.5 inches by .5 of an inch and it fastens with an old style 'c' type clasp.  The Lillie Victorian name brooch is in a reasonable condition for its age but has a few issues at one end where it has been flattened during its long life. In photo 5 you can see this in detail; that said it still fastens securely and looks delightful so it is a true bargain due to its condition!
