SOLD A LEA STEIN Eagle Bird Brooch - Black and Cream Bird Pin

I believe this is an Eagle Brooch although I have dubbed him a Blackbird Pin for obvious reasons. This is the first example I have owned of this style of brooch and it’s no surprise that it’s the work of celebrated Parisian jewelry designer Lea Stein!  This striking Eagle Bird pin in jet black with an ivory cream beak is so stylish. The stand out “beady eye” is layered in the typical Lea Stein way giving it the appearance of natural horn - the colours in layers are grey, brown and cream. Made from layers of rhodoid this bird is a collectable item for anyone who loves Lea Stein’s jewellery, Bird Brooches, or bakelite and other plastic jewellery.  The Black Eagle Bird measures 8 cms from the back of his head  to the tip of his beak, 4 cms from the top of his head to the lower edge  and the beady eye ( which adds a 3-D effect) has a diameter of 1 cm.  This collectable retro style brooch has the wishbone shaped white metal pin with roll over 'c' clasp bearing the 'Lea Stein Paris' mark.    Lea Stein's brooches always sit beautifully and the lightness of the plastics ensure they are suitable for your lighter fabrics like linen but they are equally at home on the lapel of a heavy winter coat.  This vintage style brooch is a contemporary design from Lea Stein who is famed for her jewellery, particularly her animal designs which have featured cats, foxes, dogs, birds and many other things over her history.   Here is a little more information about Lea Stein and her fabulous and whimsical jewellery.....
