SOLD A Cat Face Pin - Signed Lea Stein of Paris Brooch - The Musical Cat

Lea Stein’s Cat pins are always fabulous and this Cat’s Face Brooch is no exception! Cats the Musical comes to mind with this one as the finish is so interesting - it is a white cat covered in black musical notes and treble clefs! This contemporary cat pin has black ears and eyes  with the pupil of the eyes inset with a red pupil.  This Cat pin is made of Rhodoid, a type of early plastic, so is light and easy to wear.  This amazing  brooch will be snapped up by a  collector for sure!  The brooch has the classic Lea Stein signature on its white metal pin, which fastens with a secure roll over type clasp.   This Cat brooch measures 2.5 inches by almost 2 inches and is layered.  This Cat has character and it is easy to see cats feature in the  designs of  Lea Stein because she does depict them so well.  Here is more about her work.....

LEA STEIN was born in Paris in 1931 and worked as a dress designer. She began making her now famous Jewellery when her husband, Fernand Steinberger, ( a Plastics Chemist ) discovered a process of laminating cellulose acetate to create a unique range of colours & patterns.

Buttons for her frocks were their first products; followed by brooches, bangles and earrings. The factory was forced to close in the 1980’s but has since re-opened much to the relief of costume jewellery collectors and Lea Stein fans. Lea Stein loves to produce designs based on animals and flowers. Now she is quite an elderly lady but still introduces a couple of new designs each year.

Each brooch has the trademark ‘V’ shaped pin on the back and is signed: ‘LEA STEIN PARIS’. The manufacturing process they have used over time means that no two pieces are exactly alike. The fabulous designs, the ease of wearing and their quirky appeal are just some of the reasons why they are so collected around the world today.
