Snowdrop Brooch Vintage signed MAS-J 1987 Snowdrops Pin in Silver-tone
This is a delightful floral brooch, with a snowdrop design in an oval frame. The 3-D effect makes the snowdrops look like they are growing out from their surroundings - it is such a pretty and wearable brooch.
Made of silver plated pewter this Snowdrops pin is an early piece by Edward and Maureen Ann Story-Jones. They started making these pewter items in Wales in 1984. There was quite a range which included jewellery and bijouterie pieces such as tiny boxes and photo frames. Their early pieces being signed and dated. The design influences of nature and Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles were obviously great influences in all of the Story-Jones designs. The look of the MAS-J signed jewellery often leads to people mistaking it for Sterling Silver as it has the appearance of real silver due to its finishing process. The Snowdrops Brooch bears the copyright mark, the letters MASJ for the makers and 87 to indicate it was made in 1987.
So a vintage piece of costume jewellery, definitely a collectible and a most wearable brooch this would be lovely to keep as a treat or perfect to gift. Measuring 4cm by 3cm at its longest and widest edges this brooch is in lovely condition. It fastens with a guarded roll over type clasp.
