Silver, Marcasite and Faux Jade Dress Clip -Art Deco (Sold)
This Dress clip is a great example of Art Deco design. It is made of '935' silver so is most likely from Continental Europe and dates from the 1920's/1930's period. The little green panel is made of Peking Glass, used to imitate Jade and the design has a definite Oriental influence! Set with lots of bright real Marcasites this is a gorgeous piece of jewellery. The Dress Clip was very versatile; it could be clipped over the lapel, through a button hole, over a hat band or fastened on the neckline of a frock. This great original art deco example measures approx 3cms ( just over an inch) by 2cms (just three quarters of an inch). It fastens with a secure clip.
