Scottish Thistle Brooch 1960s Signed Exquisite (SOLD)

This giant of a thistle brooch is a very unusual piece and this is the first time I have seen one like this! It is finished in cold enamel on gilt tone metal  and is a  1960s era vintage brooch from British maker 'Exquisite'. This pin is of a large thistle flower with purple top, with natural looking spiky leaves with green enamelling. The Brooch is in excellent vintage condition and is so wearable.Also included with the brooch is a photocopy of the leaflet that the Company placed in their pieces which says " These Scottish Souvenir Brooches have been specially designed for us and are protected under the following Registered Design Nos: 905226 ,905227, and 905225 which means that the designs themselves date from 1962. Obviously a souvenir item "Frae Bonnie Scotland" the Scottish collection were retailed through a showroom at Hope Street, Glasgow but the Exquisite Company's factory was based in Solihull, Warwickshire. The large thistle pin measures approx 3 ins (6. in length and is about 2 inches  at its very widest point across the tips of the leaves. This great brooch fastens with a secure roll over type clasp.
