Scottish Style 1960s Brooch - Lucky White Heather with Purple Jewels by Exquisite (SOLD)
Here we have a sweet little lucky White Heather Brooch from Exquisite dating from the 1960's. This pin shows a bunch of lucky white heather with a pair of traditional purple thistle flower heads. The white heather flowers have been hand decorated in cold enamelling with white tips and green fronds and the thistles also have tips that have been enamelled but they also feature two little purple jewels, imitating natural amethyst, one for each flower. The brooch has that kind of silvery goldtone finish which is often a feature of vintage costume jewellery signed by Exquisite. The 'Exquisite' Jewellery Company used to advertise and market their scottish pieces with a flyer leaflet which says " These Scottish Souvenir Brooches have been specially designed for us and are protected under the following Registered Design Nos: 905226,905227, and 905225." This means that these souvenir designs date from circa1962. The Scottish collection was retailed through a showroom at Hope Street, Glasgow but the Exquisite Company's factory was based in Solihull, Warwickshire. The little white heather pin measures approx 1.5 ins in length and is approx 1.5 inches wide. It fastens with a secure roll over type clasp. This sweet vintage floral brooch would be a good addition to a collection of Vintage Exquisite jewellery or would just be great fun to wear on a lapel or hat or on a plaid shawl for Burn's Night!
