Rose & Crocus 1940s - 1950s Lucite Brooch (SOLD)

This circular lucite brooch is a super example dating from the mid 1940s to the early 1950s.  A soft open salmon rose is surrounded by delicate crocus type flowers in buttery yellow and faded mauves.  There are rose leaves, also somewhat faded in colour, worked into the pattern.    This vintage brooch is in very good conditon with only the brass metal pin to the reverse showing its age as it is slightly discoloured.  The brass metal pin shuts with a rollover type clasp.   This circular lucite brooch measures 1.75 inches in diameter and is one quarter of an inch thick.  The brooch has an angled rim which also relects the colours of the flowers.

This  vintage pin is a great collectable for anyone interested in Bakelite era and early plastics .  Lucite was Dupont's trade name for their acrylic plastic material which they patented in the 1930's and is usually the name given to brooches and pins of this type.  The most common theme for them is flowers, some abstract and Art Deco in design, others very detailed - so you can tell exactly which flower is being depicted!  Lucite brooches are see through so take on the colour of the item of clothing that they are pinned to.  They look fresh and pretty on white and light colours and striking and dramatic on black and dark colours - How will you wear yours?
