Ric the Terrier - 1950's Terrier Dog Brooch by Lea Stein of Paris (SOLD)
Ric the Terrier is one of a range of cute dog brooches and pins designed by Lea Stein of Paris. Ric is a vintage 1950's style brooch that will appeal to all who adore Terrier dogs. Here we have a cool large cream coloured terrier dog with black ears, nose and eye plus a collar with a little lozenge detail ! The cream colour is further enhanced by a gold crackle effect - you know the sort of thing that you get on aged furniture. In this case it is simply the layered gold background showing through the cream laminate layer but it does add an extra element to the brooch. This terrier pin is by the famous Parisian designer Lea Stein and it has her signature on the 'v' shaped pin fastening to prove it. This dog is facing to the right when pinned on and he would look super on the lapel of a jacket or coat - very jolly indeed! Lea Stein collectors are often interested in the reverse patterns on their brooches and this brooch has a multi coloured nose and one matt grey ear and one shiny beige ear on a plain cream body. The Lea Stein Ric the Terrier Brooch measures about 9 cms by 6 cms. It is made of layered celluloid acetate or rhodoid. This is a contemporary design from Lea Stein who is famed for her jewellery, particularly her animal designs which have featured cats, foxes, dogs, birds and many other things over her history. Now for that history -
