Pink and Purple Flowers Brooch (SOLD)

This brooch has pretty flowers in shades of pink and purple with bright green leaves.  It has been hand embroidered onto ivory linen and has a nice chunky textured look to it, even if the flowers are hard to identify!  It is reminiscent of the handworked tablecloths, napkins, cushion covers and tray cloths that were lovingly made in the 40's and 50's.   This vintage brooch measures a little over 2inches ( 5.5cms) by just under 1.5 inches (3.5cms) and is an oval shape.  It is mounted in a gilt effect gallery with a border pattern of leaves dotted with a few berries.  The back of the brooch appears to be aluminium and it has a secure roll-over 'c' type clasp. The embroidered work is protected by a plastic type cover.This is a nice wearable flower pin or a great collector's item if you like hand-made textile objects.
