Owl Brooch by Lea Stein of Paris Black and White Buba Owl Pin (SOLD)

Owls are wise and you would be wise indeed to snap up this lovely brooch by Lea Stein. Just perfect for the adding style to your lapel this brooch is black with random white flecks.  Black and cream are  the colours used for the eyes, beak and feet with the pupil of the eye  surrounded by a stand-out acid yellow ensuring a very beady stare!     Here we have a collectable Owl Brooch, named Buba by his creator Lea Stein of Paris.  This fab Owl pin is made of Rhodoid, a type of early plastic, so is light and easy to wear.  This contemporary bird brooch is in excellent order. On the reverse, this brooch is plain black with white feet. The brooch has the classic Lea Stein signature on its white metal pin, which fastens with a secure roll over type clasp.  This Owl brooch measures 2.5 inches by 1.75 inches and is layered.  Buba the Owl has character and it is easy to see why he is one of the popular designs from Lea Stein.  Here is more about her work.....

LEA STEIN was born in Paris in 1931 and worked as a dress designer. She began making her now famous Jewellery when her husband, Fernand Steinberger, ( a Plastics Chemist ) discovered a process of laminating cellulose acetate to create a unique range of colours & patterns.

Buttons for her frocks were their first products; followed by brooches, bangles and earrings. The factory was forced to close in the 1980’s but has since re-opened much to the relief of costume jewellery collectors and Lea Stein fans. Lea Stein loves to produce designs based on animals and flowers. Now she is quite an elderly lady but still introduces a couple of new designs each year.

Each brooch has the trademark ‘V’ shaped pin on the back and is signed: ‘LEA STEIN PARIS’. The manufacturing process used means that no two pieces are exactly alike. The fabulous designs, the ease of wearing and their quirky appeal are just some of the reasons why they are so collected around the world today.
