On hold 1940s Vintage Lucite Brooch with Leather Flowers
This vintage brooch was obviously a hand crafted piece of jewellery and it dates to the 1940s. Underneath an oval dome of clear plastic is a full basket of flowers and leaves in faded sage green, orange, umber, brown and yellow. It has been quite hard to capture the colours as it looks different in various lights. Each flower head and leaf has been cut from tiny little scraps of leather. The basket is gold with a latice pattern picked out on it. So we have a quirky little 1940s floral arrangement held forever in a bubble! The oval brooch with its clear front is mounted on a pale peach or cream lucite back. It measures approximately 2.5 inches by 1.5 inches and is about one quarter of an inch in thickness at its highest point. This cool, collectable early plastic brooch fastens with a brass pin and guarded clasp and is in very good condition.
