Here is a most delicate and dainty designer vintage silver and pearl brooch by the Japanese Company Mikimoto, the most celebrated of Pearl jewellers. Mikimoto actually invented the technique for culturing pearls in the late 19th/Early 20th Century and the company still produce Cultured Pearl Jewellery of the highest quality today. I would estimate that this brooch dates from the 1960's and it is a classic piece. There are two individual Mikimoto Cultured Pearls used to great effect on a simple swirled and engraved silver background. The two Mikimoto pearls sit singly on top of a curved silver 'branch'. This is then connected to an open looped design with a little leaf and an engraved pattern as well as a contrasting smooth silver surface within the loop. These two Mikimoto Cultured Pearls are a pleasing cream colour with all the glow and shine you would expect from such a prestigious company. Each of the pearls is approximately 4 mms in diameter. This pin is a signed piece, it has their 'M in a clam shell' mark along with an 'S' for Sterling Silver, clear to see on the reverse. The brooch fastens with a secure roll-over type clasp. This vintage pearl brooch measures approx 1.5 inches by a little over half an inch and is in excellent condition.
