Little Blue Eyed Squirrel Brooch (Sold)

 Here is a great little squirrel brooch.  He has a blue eye, a flash of blue cold enamel along the edge of his bushy tail and he is clutching onto a faux pearl 'Nut'.  This brooch is made of faux marcasite.  The cute squirrel brooch measures approx 1.25 inches by 1.25 inches at its widest parts.  It has a brass tone pin held in place by an old fashioned 'c' type clasp.  Finished in chrome, these pressed metal brooches were produced in England by the famous Charles Horner company and were one of their fancy lines of costume jewellery in the late 1940,s through the 1950s and into the 1960's. Originally cheap and cheerful they are now becoming increasingly hard to find and costume jewellery collectors love them. They are light in weight so are incredibly easy to wear on any fabric. This is just one of the many styles available. The Company also produced birds,  other animals, ships, figurals,  florals, crowns, people, butterflies and many other quirky designs.
