Lily of the Valley Brooch 1940s Green and White Lucite (SOLD)
A light mint green lucite leaf has had three little white bell cupped flower heads applied to it and then just a touch of hand painting has created this 1940's Lily of the Valley brooch. Vintage brooches like this are becoming increasingly hard to find. Collectors are enjoying wearing the designs of the 1940s and there is a lot of interest in early plastics like Bakelite and Lucite. Vintage brooches made from these early plastics are always a bit on the quirky side! With Lucite jewellery you have the advantage of a light weight so a large brooch is easy to wear. It will pin on to the lapel or a coat or jacket or sit on a cardigan or hat without making the material flop. You get impact but you also have the brooch positoned exactly where you want it. This lily of the valley pin is in very good order, there is just a trace of glue visable around the central flower but this doesn't detract in any way from the brooch and is hardly noticable. The brooch measures 3.5 inches long by 1 inch at its widest part, it has a 3-D effect with the flowers standing up and the measurement here is almost half an inch.
