Lea Stein Owl pins are always fabulous and this Owl Face Brooch is no exception! The colours used have a natural effect based on a red, bronze and brown colourway.  The face, cheeksw and top of head and ears are all completed in a marble effect pattern.  Black, Red and mother-of-pearl effect ivory are used to great effect for the eyes and the pupil of the eye is a true black ensuring a very beady stare!   This fab Owl pin is made of Rhodoid, a type of early plastic, so is light and easy to wear.  The owl is a symbol of wisdom and this contemporary bird brooch will be snapped up by a wise collector for sure!  The brooch has the classic Lea Stein signature on its white metal pin, which fastens with a secure roll over type clasp.  This Owl brooch measures 2.5 inches by 1.5 inches and is layered.  This Owl has character and it is easy to see why he is one of the popular designs from Lea Stein.  Here is more about her work.....

LEA STEIN was born in Paris in 1931 and worked as a dress designer. She began making her now famous Jewellery when her husband, Fernand Steinberger, ( a Plastics Chemist ) discovered a process of laminating cellulose acetate to create a unique range of colours & patterns.

Buttons for her frocks were their first products; followed by brooches, bangles and earrings. The factory was forced to close in the 1980’s but has since re-opened much to the relief of costume jewellery collectors and Lea Stein fans. Lea Stein loves to produce designs based on animals and flowers. Now she is quite an elderly lady but still introduces a couple of new designs each year.

Each brooch has the trademark ‘V’ shaped pin on the back and is signed: ‘LEA STEIN PARIS’. The manufacturing process used means that no two pieces are exactly alike. The fabulous designs, the ease of wearing and their quirky appeal are just some of the reasons why they are so collected around the world today.
