Japanese Akoya Cultured Pearl Tie Pin on 14ct White Gold - Vintage 1960s to 1970s

This tie pin is a high quality item with the tie tack part being in marked 14 carat white gold.  On top of the white gold pin part there is an inset of pure mother of pearl shell and on top of that a creamy white high quality Akoya cultured pearl.  The design is a small circle measuring approximately 12 mm in diameter with the pearl being approximately 5 mm in diameter.  This piece has a 'Mod' feel about it and probably dates to the late 1960s or early 1970s.  It is clear to see the quality of this item, the pearl is lustrous and gives off shades of pink and blue in the light.  The original box it is housed in bears the name WAKO and this is a very high end department store in Tokyo Japan. Probably on a par with Harrods of London. The tie pin would work on a traditional tie or would be perfect for a cravat and would be excellent for use as a wedding accessory.  The guard which is separate and fits to the reverse of the  tie pin is in a rhodium plated metal and the whole item is in excellent condition.
