Iconic Mini Car Cufflinks - 1960's to 1970's - White Metal in Original Box (SOLD)
What a find! A pair of white metal MINI cufflinks dating from the 1960’s -1970’s and still in their original hard plastic bubble box packaging. The cufflinks are in excellent order but the box has surface scratching which is just because it has been around for 40 - 50 years! This pair of links is marked ‘Pat App’ which means ‘patent applied for’. The Mini car on each cufflink measures approx 2.5 cms by 1 cm. The Mini is a firm favourite worldwide and these gent’s cufflinks would make a great gift for anyone who loves this little car or who is a fan of its greatest era – the mod 1960’s! Launched in 1959, the Mini soon became the best-selling car in Europe and was swiftly hailed as an icon of the optimistic early 1960s. Among the five million Minis manufactured by BMC, many were bought by celebrity owners, including the Beatles and the actors Peter Sellers, Dudley Moore and Steve McQueen. The little car’s most celebrated media moment was its multiple use as a getaway vehicle in the 1969 film, The Italian Job, starring Michael Caine.
ALEC ISSIGONIS (1906-1988) is best known as the creator of the Mini, but he also designed two more of the five best-selling cars in British motoring history – the Morris Minor and the Austin 1100. Unfortunately we only have this one pair of Vintage Mini Car Cufflinks but we will be looking out for other cufflinks with cars on our travels!
