With its Autumnal look this Horse Chestnut leaf and Conker brooch is very wearable. It is finished in cold enamel which would have been hand applied making each of the brooches different and unique. The colours for this vintage 1960s pin are an orangey brown central coloured leaf edged in green and a light bronzed brown conker in its green prickly case. This lovely cold enamel brooch is one of a range of Leaf brooches designed in the 1960's by Exquisite Jewellery Ltd., of Solihull, Warwickshire, England. All of their designs were registered to prevent other companies copying! I have been advised that the company behind the brand, W.A.P. Watson, used designers from Paris to come up with their popular ranges, but I haven't managed to find this fact documented in writing yet! This cute little pin in one of the smaller sized versions as 'Exquisite' manufactured this jewellery range in two sizes. This vintage brooch measures approx 4.5cms in length and about 4cms at it's widest point. It fastens with a pin and secure roll-over type clasp and is finished on the reverse with goldtone and the all important Exquisite signature, although this signature is quite hard to make out unless you are familiar with it.
