Hallmarked Silver Nurses Buckle in the Victorian Style (SOLD)
This is a romantic style real silver buckle depicting two love birds on a decorative pierced background with leaves and flowers. This heavy real silver (weight 60 grams) two piece nurses' buckle has all the looks of the Victorian period but is much later in date. The Hallmarks indicate it is sterling silver that was assayed in London in 1996, it also has a makers mark - JBJ. If this were a period item from the Victorian era it would be much more expensive. It is a very good replica and may have even been cast from a Victorian original piece. The buckle has been made by the casting process and is very detailed with the birds' feathers and foliate decoration being finely defined. Measuring approximately 4 inches by 2.25 inches, this lovely piece of real silver jewellery would make a great fastener for a modern belt or even an edge to edge style cardigan. You would get real vintage style and appeal with this at a fraction of the cost!
