Fuchsia Brooch Vintage 1990 signed MAS-J Fuchsia Pin in Silver-tone original box and leaflets

This is a delightful floral brooch, showing two fuchsia  flowers and a group of three leaves. The 3-D effect makes the fuchsias look like they are naturally  growing out from their surroundings - it is such a pretty and wearable brooch. 

Made of silver plated pewter this fuchsia flower pin is one of the exceptional pieces of jewellery created by Edward and Maureen Ann Story-Jones. They started making these pewter items in Wales in 1984.  There was quite a range which included jewellery and bijouterie pieces such as tiny boxes and photo frames.  Their early pieces being signed and dated. The design influences of nature and Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles were  obviously great influences in all of the Story-Jones designs.  The look of the MAS-J signed jewellery often leads to people mistaking it for Sterling Silver as it has the appearance of real silver due to its finishing process.  The Fuchsias Brooch bears the copyright mark, the letters MASJ indicate it was made by Maureen  and 90 to indicate it was made by in 1990.  

Of interest to serious collectors is the fact that the pin comes in its original blue Silver Scenes branded box with the leaflet that was included in the box with these jewels at the time. This small pale blue leaflet is titled “Silver Scenes” has some information about makers Edward and Maureen Story Jones and the instructions for cleaning your item.

So a vintage piece of costume jewellery, in original box is definitely a desirable collectible and a most wearable brooch this would be lovely to keep as a treat or perfect to gift.  Measuring 6.5cm by 3cm at its longest and widest edges this brooch is in lovely condition. It fastens with a guarded roll over type clasp.  The box and insert is in good order but has a patch on the back where an old price label has been removed.
