Elm Leaf Pin - 1960s Cold Enamel signed Exquisite Brooch - Small sized version

A lovely Elm Leaf Brooch dating from the 1960s is on offer here. This collectable piece of Vintage jewellery is from the Exquisite range. This vintage brooch has been hand painted with cold enamels. The brooch features three natural looking elm leaves in variegated shades of green, brown and yellow with its seeds picked out in yellow and caramel brown. The brooch has a soft goldtone finish and is in excellent condition. The Elm Leaf Brooch is signed 'Exquisite' on the reverse but the signature is a little hard to make out and it fastens with a pin and secure roll over type clasp.This enamel elm leaf brooch measures a little under 2 inches by one and three quarter inches.

I will include a photocopy of the original 1960's paperwork given out with Exquisite's Leaf Brooches and Earrings range. The range included Vine, Beech, Horse Chestnut,Elm,Ivy,Cherry,Hazel, Mountain Ash, Oak, Mullberry and Sycamore. This piece is from the Birmingham manufacturer W.A.P. Watson who were the owners of the 'Exquisite' brand. I have been advised that the Company made costume jewellery in the Solihull area from 1914 - 1970 but I have not found any written evidence to prove this information. However, it is certain that the designs of their popular 'Trees of the month' range of jewellery was protected by design registration in the early 1960s.

This sweet brooch, a smaller version of the Exquisite Elm Leaf Pin, would be so lovely to wear on a vintage jacket and would be a jolly addition to your costume jewellery collection!
