Circular Brooch in the form of a shield by Miracle(Sold)

This great vintage brooch by Miracle resembles a warrior's shield complete with central boss.  Around the centre are 8 flat glass pieces which look like banded black agate and banded red carnelian all within a pewter tone metal.  The brooch measures a little under 2 inches in diameter and fasteners with a secure roll over type clasp.  This is a vintage item, probably some 20 to 30 years old. The key influences for Miracle are traditional Celtic designs which go back to antiquity and Victorian Pebble Jewellery. This was made popular by Queen Victoria when she visited Scotland and wore silver and gold jewellery set with the natural gemstones found locally, especially cairngorms and agates, citrines, rock crystals and amethysts.
