Caithness 'Paperweight' Glass and Silver Pendant Necklace Hallmarked Glasgow 1963(SOLD)
This is a stylish example of the early 1960's jewellery made in Silver and handcrafted glass by the Scottish glassworks - Caithness. With echoes of the Mackintosh Arts and Crafts style, this sterling silver pendant necklace is set with a caned glass milliefiore cabouchon. The pendant is hallmarked Glasgow 1963 and has the 'CJ' makers mark to prove it was Caithness Jewellery. The Silver Pendant measures just over an inch square whilst the Caithness glass jewel is about half an inch in diameter. It is decorated to resemble a six petalled daisy type flower and the colours are predominantly purple with hints of blue and white and black in the glass canework. This vintage pendant is suspended on a sterling silver chain approximately 18 inches long which fastens with a bolt ring type clasp. This collectable piece of jewellery is in good vintage order with a few surface scratches to the silver which is only to be expected on vintage and antique jewelry that has been worn or previously enjoyed! The Caithness Glass piece is in excellent order. I never overclean sterling silver jewellery as people often want their antique and vintage jewellery to look its age - however this piece would buff up well with a silver cloth if you wanted to make it shine like new.
