Basket of Flowers Vintage Brooch
This vintage brooch has the style or the late forties or early fifties about it! Here is a faux marcasite brooch which is a basket of flowers with a bow tied to the handle. The brooch is further decorated with little gems - two red, two blue and one green. Measuring approx 2 inches by 1.75 inches this brooch has a silvertone back pin and closes with an old fashioned 'c' type clasp. Finished in chrome, these pressed metal brooches were produced in England by the famous Charles Horner company and were one of their fancy lines of costume jewellery in the late 1940,s through the 1950s and into the 1960's. Originally cheap and cheerful they are now becoming increasingly hard to find and costume jewellery collectors love them. They are light in weight so are incredibly easy to wear on any fabric. This is just one of the many styles available. The Company also produced birds, other animals, ships, figurals, florals, crowns, people, butterflies and many other quirky designs.
