This is a decorative scarf ring from the past, dating to the Art Deco era - 1920s to 1930s. It is made from the collectable early plastic celluloid and it benefits from an over painting in shiny purple with deep-cut or carved designs which have been enhanced with gold paint. This type of early plastic jewellery is among the most desirable to collectors of Bakelite era pieces. It is quite unusual to find a scarf ring made in this way; usually it is bangles and armlets that are decorated like this. So the small, sweet scarf ring measures just over an inch in diameter and fractionally under half an inch in width. You use it like a toggle or woggle to simply slip over your scarf ends and retain them in a neat way. Perfect for silks, pashminas and other fine fabric scarves. The scarf ring is in excellent condition.
