Antique Gold Braid Vintage Evening Bag with real Branch Coral and Mother of Pearl Decoration.(sold)

This amazing vintage handbag has to be one of the most gorgeous I have ever seen!  It is made from a kind of gold braided material and is decorated with generous chunks of real orangey red branch coral and pieces of shiny mother-of-pearl.  The natural mother of pearl decoration has  pink, cream, green and other lovely hints of colour in it, as only read old shell can.  Lots of lovely small faux pearls are dotted all over too. The frame of the bag is gilt and it is jewelled with lots of pretty glass gems.  There is a huge faux emerald green stone in the centre and two purple faux amethysts and four faux blue sapphires, a dozen little yellow diamantes and 18 teeny tiny faux seed pearls too! There are half a dozen faux carnelians on the frame and it also has a "kissing" clasp topped with two faux cornelians.  It is like pirate treasure, so much richness and jewels galore!  This antique evening purse is suspended on a very clever chain arrangement... it can be  shortened and lengthened by pulling the chain through the loops which hold it to the frame of the bag. The chain is brass and approximately 32 inches which makes a 16 inch double chain or something longer by adjustment. The bag itself is approximately 7 inches by 8 inches in size.  Nice and generous enough to fit in everything you want to carry to the party! The bag is lined with a silky yellow satin material and has antique gold braiding around the frame. There is a pocket inside and a covered mirror too.  The mirror has silvered slightly, the way old antique glass does, but in my opinion this only adds to the charm of this lovely antique textile bag.  I would think this amazing and collectable purse dates from around the 1920s  to 1930s.  It is in splendid order and is chic and unique in every way.  Anyone with a love of old beadwork, vintage costume, antique purses or handbags and all things girly and glamorous will adore this evening bag!
