Antique Chatelaine Purse - Chain Mesh Purse on Belt Clip (SOLD)

This Antique Chain Mesh Purse dates from the end of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th Century - 1890s to 1910 making it late Victorian or Edwardian.  Purses made of chain mesh were popular at this time and this lovely antique purse comes with its original belt clip which shows a clover leaf in a heart.  Made from gilded brass the purse is in very nice condition with just a few patches of brass having lost a little of the gilding where the gilding has worn due to natural use.  Now for the size - this is quite a dinky little purse most suitable for collectors of small handbags and purses.  In total from the top of the belt clip to the bottom edge of the chainmail purse it measures  7 inches with the purse itself measuring 3 inches by 1.75 inches.  This lovely old purse fastens with a ball 'kissing clasp'.
