An English Exquisite Mulberry Brooch - 1960s Pin -Leaves and Berries
This is my personal favourite and one of the rarer pieces of the signed Exquisite cold enamel leaf brooches made in the 1960's. This lovely Mulberry brooch has two nice variegated leaves with rich greens and contrasting yellows and three almost edible juicy looking dark coloured berries! It is one of a range of a dozen Leaf brooches and earrings designed by W.A.P Watson trading as Exquisite Jewellery Ltd., of Solihull, Warwickshire, England. All of their designs were registered to prevent other companies copying! The metal has a soft gold tone finish to the branches and stems of the leaves and the reverse of the pin where the signature 'Exquisite' can be clearly seen. The cold enamel was hand painted onto the pieces which is why the colourways vary such a lot. This one has the three blue/black coloured mulberrys and I should mention here that there is a speck bit of enamel loss to the high point of one of the berries. It is in really good vintage order with a secure roll over type c clasp fastening. This vintage brooch measures approximately 2.5 inches by 2 inches. It is very wearable, getting harder to source and would be just the thing for your vintage costume jewelry collection!
