A Wolf Face Pin - Signed Lea Stein of Paris Brooch

Lea Stein’s animal pins are always fabulous and this Wolf Face Brooch is no exception! The colour is so interesting a deep purple with mauve and  black in it which is very like rich cut silk velvet. The wolf eyes, inner ears and nose tip are in cream coloured ivorine laminates to contrast. This contemporary wolf pin is made of Rhodoid, a type of early plastic, so is light and easy to wear.  This gorgeous and somewhat unusual brooch will be snapped up by a Lea Stein  collector for sure!  The brooch has the classic Lea Stein signature on its white metal pin, which fastens with a secure roll over type clasp. The reverse laminate is in shades of purple like the front  and has cream inset pieces.  This Wolf brooch measures a tad over 2.5 inches by almost 2 inches and is layered.  This Wolf has character - he's big and bad and he is waiting to grace your lapel! LEA STEIN was born in Paris in 1931 and worked as a dress designer. She began making her now famous Jewellery when her husband, Fernand Steinberger, ( a Plastics Chemist ) discovered a process of laminating cellulose acetate to create a unique range of colours & patterns.

Buttons for her frocks were their first products; followed by brooches, bangles and earrings. The factory was forced to close in the 1980’s but has since re-opened much to the relief of costume jewellery collectors and Lea Stein fans. Lea Stein loves to produce designs based on animals and flowers. Now she is quite an elderly lady but still introduces a couple of new designs each year.

Each brooch has the trademark ‘V’ shaped pin on the back and is signed: ‘LEA STEIN PARIS’. The manufacturing process used means that no two pieces are exactly alike. The fabulous designs, the ease of wearing and their quirky appeal are just some of the reasons why they are so collected around the world today.
