A Maple Tree Brooch - Large Lea Stein Tree Pin -Green ,Brown and Golden Yellow

This stunning Maple Tree brooch is the work of Lea Stein of Paris and is a fantastic example of her clever jewellery making techniques. This Maple Tree pin shows all the reasons that Lea Stein's designs are so loved. The brooch has been made of layers of laminated cellulose acetate making the perfect stand-out 3-D Tree Pin in the way that only Lea Stein can! There are leaves of rich Kelly green, pale brown, and three leaves which include fabric in an Art Deco design with a super golden leaf adorning the top. The tree trunk has bark-like markings in shades of brown. This design is great fun and is just the thing for those who love the forest, woods and the great outdoors! To the reverse it is finished with "jigsaw puzzle" type pieces in leaf shapes. There is a white metal pin bearing the 'Lea Stein, Paris' mark and it fastens with a roll over type clasp. Size is 9cms high by 8cms at its widest parts. Lea Stein is well known for her vintage brooches and vintage jewellery and this is her story...

LEA STEIN was born in Paris in 1931 and worked as a dress designer. She began making her now famous Jewellery when her husband, Fernand Steinberger, ( a Plastics Chemist ) discovered a process of laminating cellulose acetate to create a unique range of colours & patterns.

Buttons for her frocks were their first products; followed by brooches, bangles and earrings. The factory was forced to close in the 1980’s but has since re-opened much to the relief of costume jewellery collectors and Lea Stein fans. Lea Stein loves to produce designs based on animals and flowers. Now she is quite an elderly lady but still introduces a couple of new designs each year.

Each brooch has the trademark ‘V’ shaped pin on the back and is signed: ‘LEA STEIN PARIS’. The manufacturing process used means that no two pieces are exactly alike. The fabulous designs, the ease of wearing and their quirky appeal are just some of the reasons why they are so collected around the world today.
