A Dark Purple Silver Spot Cat Face Pin - Signed Lea Stein of Paris Brooch

Lea Stein’s Cat pins are always fabulous and this Cat’s Face Brooch is no exception! The colour is so attractive being a deep purple which has a fabulous silver spots pattern to the face with pearl cream as a dramatic contrast. This contemporary cat pin has cream insets to its ears and eyes with the eyes inset with a black pupil.  A perfect puss to brighten up your outfit! This Cat pin is made of Rhodoid, a type of early plastic, so is light and easy to wear. The rhodoid is layered with a mauve and silver lame fabric resulting in the spotted layer.  This contemporary brooch will be snapped up by a cat loving collector for sure!  The brooch has the classic Lea Stein signature on its white metal pin, which fastens with a secure roll over type clasp. The reverse laminate is deep  blue with cream inset pieces.  This Cat brooch measures 2.5 inches by almost 2 inches and is layered.  This Cat has character and it is easy to see why it is one of the popular designs from Lea Stein.  Here is more about her work.....

LEA STEIN was born in Paris in 1931 and worked as a dress designer. She began making her now famous Jewellery when her husband, Fernand Steinberger, ( a Plastics Chemist ) discovered a process of laminating cellulose acetate to create a unique range of colours & patterns.

Buttons for her frocks were their first products; followed by brooches, bangles and earrings. The factory was forced to close in the 1980’s but has since re-opened much to the relief of costume jewellery collectors and Lea Stein fans. Lea Stein loves to produce designs based on animals and flowers. Now she is quite an elderly lady but still introduces a couple of new designs each year.

Each brooch has the trademark ‘V’ shaped pin on the back and is signed: ‘LEA STEIN PARIS’. The manufacturing process used means that no two pieces are exactly alike. The fabulous designs, the ease of wearing and their quirky appeal are just some of the reasons why they are so collected around the world today.
