19th Century Rose and Daisy Micro Mosaic Brooch
This antique brooch is incredibly beautiful and detailed. Featuring a large white Daisy in the middle, some smaller daisies, realistic leaves and a lot of pretty pink roses it is a floral picture! Dating from the English Victorian period -the 19th Century - this little pin has been hand made in Italy. The micro mosaic technique uses the application of tiny glass tiles to make a pretty design. To give you some idea of this detail within this miniature beauty this pin is just 2cms square and yet it has hundreds of individual pieces of glass in its pattern. Colours include white, pink, pale green, yellow, terracotta red and turquoise blue. All the tiles are held within borders of gilt metal and the brooch also has a circle and half circle design. This brooch is in good condition and has only the genuine wear you would expect to see on something that is over 120 years old. This antique micro mosaic brooch fastens with an old fashioned 'c' type clasp and has the extra long pin favoured in the 19th Century and found on antique jewellery from the period.
