19th Century Miniature Micro Mosaic Brooch (Sold)
This antique brooch is a tiny size yet it is incredibly beautiful and detailed. Dating from the end of the 19th Century this little pin has been hand made with the application of tiny glass tiles to make a pretty design. To give you some idea this tiny pin is just 1.5cms by 2.75cms and yet it has almost 150 individual pieces of glass in its pattern. Colours include white, pink, pale green, black, red and blue. All the tiles are held within borders of gilt metal and the brooch also has a ball design around its perimeter. This brooch is in good condition but a couple of the tiles have lost a part to their top edges which can only really be noticed when viewed through a magnifying glass and doesn't detract from the brooch at all. This antique micro mosaic brooch fastens with an old fashioned 'c' type clasp and has the extra long pin favoured in the 19th Century and found on antique jewellery from the period.
