1960's Vintage Flower Brooch - Green, Black & White (SOLD)
This is a lovely old metal, cold enamelled Flower Pin. It was made in Providence, Rhode Island, USA - an area which has been at the centre of the USA jewelry trade since the earliest days of Vintage Costume Jewellery manufacturing. This is a great example of a 'New Old Stock' piece as it was made in the Swinging Sixties and has lain in a Warehouse until now. The enamel finish is bright and strong with four layers of petals surrounding a central white dome. The first two layers are acid green pointed petals, on top of these is a layer of black petals and the final petal layer is in white enamel with a 'cut out' centre to each petal. The contrasts between these colours gives a great effect. The flower brooch is a good size being a little over 3 inches in diameter! It is finished in a creamy yellow to white on the reverse and you can just see the tips of the black petals too. The brooch fastens with a 'v' shaped back pin with a secure roll over type clasp. The position of the pin ensures that this brooch will sit well on your lapel without flopping!
