1960's Vintage Flower Brooch - Black and Green. (SOLD)

This is a most striking brooch.  The contrasts between the vibrant green domed centre and the double layer of naturalistic  jet black petals gives a real Mod feel to this brooch.    It conjures up the times when Mary Quant was queen of fashion and it is a genuine piece of vintage costume jewellery from that era.  However this is not a British piece;this  lovely old metal cold enamelled Flower Power Pin was made in Providence, Rhode Island, USA - an area which has been at the centre of the USA jewelry trade since the earliest days of Vintage Costume Jewellery manufacturing. This is a great example of a 'New Old Stock' piece as it was made in the Swinging Sixties and has lain in a Warehouse until now.  The enamel finish is bright and strong and this flower brooch is a good size being 3 inches in diameter!  It is finished in a creamy yellow to white on the reverse  and you can just see the tips of the black petals too.  The brooch fastens with a 'v' shaped back pin with a secure roll over type clasp.  The position of the pin ensures that this brooch will sit well on your lapel without flopping!
