This is an unusual Poppy pin by Exquisite Jewellery Ltd., of Solihull, Warwickshire, England.  The Poppy brooch was one of their range of Birthday Flower Brooches introduced and extremely popular during the 1960's and one which is quite hard to find these days.  These pins came in two sizes with a flower for every month of the year and most were finished in coloured painted cold enamel and others in gold plated, copper coloured and silver coloured tones. This Poppy brooch has superb texture to the design and benefits from a 3D layered effect too. The Company also had a range of Leaf pins and matching earrings, as well as many other lines in quality costume jewellery. The Poppy Brooch is the pin for August .  It has a goldtone finish and the classic "bow"  which is a feature of all these designer flower brooches. Of course it is signed "Exquisite" on the back with the letters REGD which indicates it is a registered design of this Company.  It is in very good vintage condition with just a few areas where the plate has worn on tiny patches mainly to the reverse.   What a great gift for anyone who has an August Birthday or for someone named "Poppy" or just because you like it! Approximate measurements are  6.5cms (2.5ins) by 5cms (2ins).  This item fastens with a secure rollover type clasp.
